The Power of Network Weaving

Writer: Amollo AmboleAmollo Ambole

I don’t just make connections—I build networks.

As a child, I was endlessly talkative, eager to share thoughts on everything. Over time, I’ve learned that true connection isn’t just about speaking, it’s also about listening, understanding, and weaving relationships into something greater than the sum of their parts.

Today, I move through diverse spaces, constantly forging and strengthening collaborations. Where others see silos, I see connections. I am a super-networker, but that label comes with its challenges.

Navigating the World as an Unbound Agent

The problem with being a super-networker? I don’t fit neatly into one role or institution. I thrive as an unbound agent, a fluid actor who moves across disciplines, systems, and geographies to spark change. The Planetary Civics Inquiry Position Paper describes individuals like me as hybrid practitioners who bridge theory and action, policy and practice, global frameworks and local realities.

This fluidity is key to reimagining African cities because no single authority holds all the answers. Real solutions will emerge in the in-between spaces, where a neighborhood leader can co-design with an international expert, a young entrepreneur can spark ideas with an industry veteran, and a grassroots innovator can reshape global governance. Change will happen when these unlikely allies find common ground.

Unlocking the Power of Connection

So, here’s an idea: let’s make more room for unbound agents—the connectors, the bridge-builders, the changemakers who can:

🔗 Bring together unlikely allies to spark new possibilities.

🔓 Unlock trapped resources buried in institutional silos.

🤝 Turn competition into collaboration for greater impact.

📢 Share knowledge freely instead of hoarding it.

The future belongs to those who weave networks, not guard gates. Let’s get to work!
