I am a development and innovation expert with 18 years of experience in academia, international development, and philanthropy. I am a person with a disability, having lost sight in my left eye in a car crash in January 2024. Having a disability has bolstered my mission to be a champion for inclusion.
I have consistently delivered exceptional results through rigorous research, strategic partnerships, and a passion for creativity. I want to build a world where everyone can learn and prosper as I have.

If I don’t have what you’re looking for, no worries—someone in my network definitely does. I’ve been lucky to team up with some amazing people, like:
Christer Anditi
Living Labs expert
Anditi managed two of my research projects during my full-time tenure at the University of Nairobi. Our professional relationship has transcended time as we remain trusted confidants. Our values, approach to work, and thought processes align seamlessly, fostering a productive and harmonious partnership.
I was privileged to supervise Anditi's M.A. project and mentor her during her PhD. I am so proud of her achievements and look forward to working for her someday!
Logedi Luhangala
Project management expert
Logedi is a diligent and detail-oriented researcher whose graduate research I have had the privilege of supervising.
Along with a proactive "can-do" attitude, Logedi's unwavering passion for learning makes him a dependable individual you can consistently rely on to deliver outstanding results in any task or project.
Logedi also excels in working with people from diverse backgrounds, making him an asset for effectively managing stakeholder engagements.
Hewete Haileselassie
Senior Journalist &
Communications expert
I admire Hewete's wit and sophistication in communicating effectively about development in Africa. Hewete was born and raised in London but has lived and worked in France, the US, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Hewete is passionate about the importance of decolonizing the narrative around development work on the African continent.
We share a common passion for improving lives in and perceptions of Africa. Our diverse skill sets and expansive networks complement each other, enriching our partnership with a wide range of perspectives, ideas, and contacts in the development and media space in Africa.

Word
Writing about my experiences, starting with my 2024 accident, was incredibly therapeutic. I chose to self-publish this pocketbook so that I could have
creative freedom and share my learnings and aspirations with you directly. I hope my words in this first chapter offer you solace and courage.
The full version is coming in 2025.

I love connecting with people and with nature.
If you didn't find me at my desk or in a workshop, chances are I'd be scaling one of the peaks of the Aberdare mountain range or perfecting my jibe while windsurfing in Diani. And if neither of those, I'd likely be in an intermediate Bachata, Salsa, or Kizomba class.

But now, as I step back from these physically demanding activities, I'm embracing the opportunity to channel my energies into healing. When I regain my strength, I will enjoy rediscovering my love for the outdoors.
